Instagram is one of the most popular social media platforms among teenagers and youngsters nowadays. The users of this social platform can share their personal pictures on their own page with other users who follow them. Also, users can chat with their friends (or followers) via the platform. One of the reasons why the usage of Instagram surpassed Facebook is because compared with Facebook, there are less elderly users on Instagram, so teenagers and youngsters can post without any concerns. To celebrate its 10th anniversary of launching on the App Store, Instagram announced that there would be thirteen different icons available for the users to change on their smartphones, including the original classic one.

Before May 2016, the icon of Instagram on smartphones was the one on the left, an image of a vintage camera. However, the company decided to change the platform’s icon to the one on the right. Not only did the company change the look of the icon, but it also changed the user interface of the application, which makes the UI more intuitive for users of the app.

Though the users might have already gotten used to the new icon nowadays, the feedback on the new icon was mostly negative when it first came out. Most of the users thought that the new icon didn’t look as good as the original one, and wanted the company to change it back to the original one.
