“Wonder Woman 1984” simultaneously released in theaters and on HBO Max on December 25th. Warner Bros. is now shifting its focus from cinema to streaming service to rival Netflix and other platforms by upgrading its streaming service from HBO to HBO Max, with over 1,300 films and shows.

What Is HBO Max?
With the increasing demands of streaming services, HBO has launched its latest platform — HBO Max to be in on the action. HBO Max shares the same price, which is $14.99 per month, as HBO’s previous platform, HBO Now. Moreover, it provides a wider variety of shows and movies since it combines the vast content empire of AT&T’s WarnerMedia — HBO, Warner Bros., New Line Cinema, DC Entertainment, TBS, TNT, CNN, Cartoon Network, The CW, Crunchyroll, and Adult Swim. Like Netflix, HBO Max has kid’s profiles and allows users to enjoy watching their favorite shows on different devices simultaneously. Compared to the former which can be shared on four devices, HBO Max can be only used on up to three devices. Although it is currently available only in the United States, HBO Max is planning to expand the realm to Europe and Latin America.
Content of HBO Max
HBO Max’s over 1,300 movies and shows make it the platform with the most abundant content. Aside from HBO’s original full library, like Game of Thrones, Westworld, and The Sopranos, this latest streaming service provides several genres that can entertain different target audiences. Fans of The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter would be ecstatic because they can watch their favorite film series again and again on HBO Max. Moreover, nearly a full collection of animated films of Studio Ghibli can be found on this platform as well. Also, popular tv series, such as Friends, The Bigbang Theory, will also be available. Of course, just like Netflix boasts original series and films, HBO Max also has its own exclusive content, such as Love Life, Adventure Time: Distant Lands, and An American Pickle. More HBO-Max-only content, including Untitled Gossip Girl Reboot, Green Lantern, and DC Super Hero High will wow the audience in the upcoming seasons.

“Wonder Woman 1984”
Warner Bros. has announced “Wonder Woman 1984,” the most expected original DC Comics adaptation’s release date on Christmas, streaming both in theaters and on WarnerMedia’s new streaming platform, HBO Max. This is definitely a big step for Warner’s Bros. to have such a blockbuster as the debut for HBO Max that people have been waiting for the film for four years since its completion in 2018. People believed that Warner Bros. had made the best choice because it helped them to get the film out in a timely manner while promoting a wave-making streaming service.

Though because of the pandemic, it is unlikely that “Wonder Woman 1984” would become a billion-dollar blockbuster as was expected, it is certain that the release would have a huge impact on the number of HBO Max’s subscribers, especially during the holidays. Thus, the decision to go to Warner Bros. making the film available for a month on HBO Max in the United States at no additional cost to subscribers will successfully raise people’s attention to its newly released streaming platform.
