Gaming
The gaming industry offers a huge variety of different gaming experiences in the forms of console games, PC games, mobile games, cloud gaming services, and more. There are currently around 2.7 billion gamers in the world, with the average gamer being 34 years old while the most active gamers are boys under the age of 18. As of 2020, the gaming industry makes for quite a lucrative business, as it is worth approximately 159 billion USD; the revenue is expected to reach 256.97 billion USD by 2025.
Among the fast-growing gaming industry, two of the fastest-growing sectors are mobile gaming and cloud gaming services. One reason for this is the internet penetration rate and the wide availability of cheap phones and other mobile devices. Another reason is the ‘Free-to-play, in-game monetization’ business model which is gradually becoming more popular, as this propels potential gamers to start playing certain games that utilize this game model. In addition, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced many to stay at home, thereby increasing the time they spend on surfing the Internet and gaming.
